This Is Modern

This album is for the lover of excellent acoustic rock. Rockwell Church church teamed up with superstar producer John Alagia and turned out an excellent follow-up to their last album, "Through The Fall." The creative songwriting combined with excellent acoutic guitar riffs and instrumental vocals turned out their best release to date. This album will give Rockwell Church the opportunity to break out to a mass audience much like Pat McGee Band and Vertical Horizon did recently . On the other hand, they lack a major record deal, which I'm sure will follow shortly after record executives spin this disc in their CD players.

The poppy acoustic tunes start off with "Chandelier" which references some pop culture while bringing to your ears a beautiful tune. Following "Chandelier" is "Lonely," a slower yet more catchy song that will hit your mind as well as your ears. You will be able to relate the lyrics to personal experiences and get immersed in a world of sheer magical sounds. One after the other the songs know you over like dominos. "You're So Cool" and "I See Alice" are perfectly crafted masterpieces that display the excellent talents of both Joti Rockwell and Nathan Church, the only two band members. While playing a majority of the instruments themselves, Rockwell Church have created an array of sentimental, emotional, and imaginative songs.

All of the songs are heavily acoustic guitar based, while the vocals drive most of the songs. However, in the case of "The Never Ending Battle Between My Ego And My Id," you will find yourself becoming lost in the strumming of the guitar. Check out "Talk So Heavy" if you want some incredible acoustic rock instrumentation. John Alagia has brought his production talents to bring flavor to this album for other areas other than vocals and guitars.

Rockwell Church has been know for their crafty songwriting and guitar playing, but with the addition of vocal and instrumental processing, editing, and mixing, Alagia has added another great recording to his shelf of accomplishments. Although Alagia is a very innovative rock producer, Rockwell Church have to take almost all of the credit. Joti and Nathan have proven themselves to be true modern rock musicians and rank among some of the best. If you are a fan of classic songwriting then make this your new favorite band and use this album as your cornerstone. If you love artists like Granian and Howie Day then this disc will blow you away. Expect big things from this pair in the future. They will most likely go in the history books as being some of the greatest songwriters ever, along side such critically aclaimed duos as Simon & Garfunkel and Lennon & McCartney. They are not to be taken lightly. The acoustic revolution will ride on their wings!
